Final Flights
Two British Airways - G-BOAA and G-BOAB - and one Air France - F-BVFF - aircraft were not returned to flight following the loss of F-BTSC in July 2000. The two British Airways Concorde aircraft were stored at Heathrow Airport in London. Concorde G-BOAA was dismantled, her wings and tail removed, and transported to her final retirement location. Concorde G-BOAB would travel no further, earmarked for display at Heathrow. Likewise Concorde F-BVFF was stored at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris prior to display, within the boundaries of the airport.
On 31st May 2003, Air France Concorde F-BTSD and F-BVFB, concluded their respective flights from New York and over the Bay of Biscay, marking the end of a chapter in French civil aviation. The four Air France Concorde aircraft in commercial service were retired; aircraft F-BVFA flew to Washington Dulles airport on 12th June 2003; aircraft F-BTSD flew the short distance to Le Bourget on 14th June 2003; aircraft F-BVFB flew to Karlsruhe in Germany on 24th June 2003; and aircraft F-BVFC made the final flight of any Air France Concorde on 27th June 2003 when she fittingly returned to Toulouse, her birthplace.
At London Heathrow on 24th October 2003, in dramatic fashion, British Airways Concorde's G-BOAE and G-BOAF landed in succession, marking the beginning of an emotional sequence of events. Finally, at 5.05pm, Concorde Golf-Bravo Oscar Alpha Golf, flight BA002 from New York touched down on Runway 27 Right at Heathrow, marking the end of British Airways commercial service; the moment marked the end of supersonic commercial flight.
Of the five British Airways Concorde aircraft still in service at retirement, aircraft G-BOAC flew to Manchester Airport on 31st October 2003; aircraft G-BOAG flew to New York on 3rd November 2003 and then on to Seattle on 5th November 2003; aircraft G-BOAD flew to New York's JFK airport on 10th November 2003; aircraft G-BOAE flew to Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados; and aircraft G-BOAF made the final flight of any Concorde on 26th November 2003 when she returned to the place of her birth, Filton near Bristol.
